Meet Our Team

Capt. Henry Marx – President Emeritus and Founder
Captain Henry E. Marx, Master Mariner and founder of Landfall in Stamford, CT, crossed the bar on June 28, 2018. A lifelong mariner, Capt. Marx saw service in the U.S. Navy and the Norwegian Merchant Marine, and delivered yachts along the East and West Coasts for over 20 years. He acquired Landfall Navigation, the marine navigation and safety equipment chandlery, in 1982. He authored a navigation video titled Loran C: A Navigator’s Approach, was a well-respected navigation and marine safety instructor, served on the Marine Board Nautical Chart Committee, was a member of the Cruising club of America and the Storm Trysail Club, an advisor to US Sailing’s Safety at Sea Committee, and co-founder and Chairman of the Stamford Sailing Foundation. Capt. Marx received numerous honors for his contributions to the local and national sailing community. He received the Storm Trysail Club’s prestigious Owen C. Torrey Memorial Trophy by the for his contribution to recreational boating, the club and the marine industry, especially with the US Sailing-sponsored Safety at Sea Seminars.

Sean Fleischman – President
Sean is owner and president of Landfall Navigation. He purchased the company in 2018 after serving 20 years as an employee. Based in Stamford, CT, Landfall Navigation offers a full line of marine safety equipment, worldwide nautical charts, navigation instruments, and foul weather gear. Sean is a native of City Island, NY, a small nautical community on Long Island Sound, famous for several America’s Cup defenders. In his youth, Sean worked at many of the island’s yacht clubs and earned a United States Coast Guard Inland Masters Limited License. In 2020, Sean served on the Life Jacket Association advisory committee for life jacket awareness. In his tenure with Landfall, he learned much from his mentor Capt. Henry Marx. Sean and Landfall are proud to sponsor US Sailing’s Safety at Sea course at The Mariners’ Museum.

Fred Lorthioir – Chief Financial Officer

John Stanton – Digital Marketing, Director
John Stanton is a seasoned sailor hailing from Stamford, CT, and the Western Long Island Sound. With a lifelong passion for sailing, he's sailed everything from dinghies to large boats, around buoys, near and off shore and iceboats, of course. With over three decades of iceboating experience, John is a prominent figure within the New England iceboating community and has been involved the entire time with the New England Ice Yacht Association (NEIYA), where he presently holds the position of Commodore. His affinity for iceboating was sparked by practical necessity, stemming from too many winter swimming incidents while Frost Biting Dyer Dhows in Milton Harbor. Why iceboats? It's the SPEED. Beyond his sailing pursuits, John leverages his understanding of the sailing community in his role as Director of Marketing at Landfall Navigation, a marine supply company specializing in nautical safety equipment. In this capacity, he channels his passion for safe and efficient sailing by ensuring sailors have access to premium safety equipment suitable for both offshore and nearshore excursions.

Capt. Mark Bologna – Safety Equipment Department Manager
Mark is a USCG licensed Captain and holds a US Sailing Safe Powerboat Handling Instructor Certification. He has been on Landfall Navigation’s team since 2007. Currently the retail safety department manager, he also assists with commercial sales and educational outreach to the recreational boating industry. Mark is a hands-on marine safety consultant who advises customers on the issues that ensure their safety and enjoyment of life on the water. Truly an outdoor sportsman, he has more than 45 years of boating experience in the northeastern United States.
